15 Insanely Underrated PS4 & Xbox One Games You Must Play

9. No Man's Sky

No Mans Sky Graphics
Hello Games

Look, developers at Hello Games clearly broke the trust of their fanbase with No Man's Sky, talking about features and mechanics before the game released that didn't actually make it into the final product. But do you know what, from Activision with Call of Duty 2 to EA and Mass Effect 3, publishers have been doing the same thing for years.

So it's a bit of a shame that No Man's Sky was the straw that broke the camel's back. Seemingly completely rejected for not living up to its (suitably ironic) intergalactic hype levels, Hello Games' most ambitious title yet was never really given the chance to stand on its own two feet.

Which is a shame, because although the title isn't the game-changer everyone thought it was going to be, it's still an experience that you can sink hundreds of hours into.

Playing the game for a short period of time every now and again can be an intoxicating experience, as you're constantly discovering new planets, aliens and spaceships without seeing the seams that hold the developer's impossible universe together.

Hello Games really did nail the sense of exploration inherent to making No Man's Sky work, and as a kind of meditative journey through the infinite vastness of time and space, it's kind of amazing.
