14. Brock (Pokemon Red/Blue)

Brock's iconic status may be aided by his role in the Pokemon animated series but he's still a memorable and challenging foe within the games, as long as the slightly weird pose he pulls when agreeing to battle is disregarded. He's the first Gym Leader in the game, providing the first major test for any fledgling trainer. His Rock-type Pokemon (Geodude and Onyx) are strong to physical attacks, making him a formidable opponent for rookie Trainers who haven't mastered type match-ups yet.
