15 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Fallout
13. The Release Day Of Fallout 3 Was Within Days Of The Great War
The premise of the Fallout series is a bleak one; all life as we know it ended on October 23, 2077 when every nuclear capable nation in the world destroyed each other in just two hours, leaving everyone to either die, mutate or flee into underground vaults - thus known lore-wise as The Great War. At times, the wait for a third Fallout title felt like exile in a Vault Tec shelter but when Bethesda finally delivered, ten years after Interplay's second game, they tried to time the release day to coincide with their own Great War. They weren't able to do it but Fallout 3 arrived on shelves on October 28, five days after the anniversary of the end of the world. Poignant and cool, don't you think?
