15 Mind-Blowing Things You Didn't Know About Resident Evil
6. The Creator Didn't Play Resident Evil 5 Until 2011
You've got Shinji Mikami to thank for all-things Resident Evil-related, but once his other studio Clover got off the ground, Mikami left Resi in the (fairly capable) hands of Capcom overall.
As a result, he famously stated that he couldn't bring himself to play a Resident Evil game he hadn't worked on, and so despite Resi 5 releasing in 2009, he didn't 'get round' to playing it until 2011.
Mikami would also note that the increased action focus in Resident Evil 4 was down to "poor sales" of the survival-themed Gamecube remake, leading to more action, more profit, and once Shinji had left, Capcom's execs (probably) shouting, "Right, he's gone! Bring on the guns!"
