So far, the "never thought we'd see it" delights of a Crash Bandicoot remaster has gone down rather well.

Yes, the overall art style strays into genericism and Crash himself only really appeals to 90s gamers and throwback enthusiasts, but that’s almost not the point. If Vicarious Visions prove that there’s a worthwhile financial reality to remaking something like Crash in the first place, the floodgates will open.

Said remakes to always need be, y’know, good, but just like he did back in 1995, Crash can lead the way for every other major nostalgic PlayStation game to make a new-age comeback.

Spyro the Dragon? Crash Team Racing? Medieval? We’ll continue to wait with baited breath, but here’s hoping Crash doesn’t disappoint.
