Where to start? Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Of all the kart racers that dropped when the industry realised how appealing the genre was in full 3D (shout out to Looney Tunes Racing) we tend to distill that down into Mario going head to head with Crash.

However, as this flooded market made everybody assume any kart racing spin-off was to be forgotten about, Sonic's All-Stars Racing Transformed is the only kart racer of the last decade that stands out as head and shoulders above the rest.

To be fair, the genre has almost completely died, but the sheer level of polish across the board, the array of vehicles to control, characters to embody and brilliantly-designed tracks all elevate this to the same heights as the mighty Mario Kart 64 or Crash Team Racing.
