15 Most Hilariously Written Video Games Of All Time
14. Fable
Choice Quote: "It's just a flesh wound!" - Dismembered guard. In a game that lets you poke and prod at a fully-realised fairytale world and do everything from become an evil horn-headed maniac who kicks chickens for a laugh to the village hero who signs autographs and makes girls swoon at the very mention of your name - Fable is a series that's just charm personified. Although Lionhead Studios obviously played a huge part in this, on the other hand ex-Creative Director Peter Molyneux's influence is one who divides people immensely. Either you love and adore his ideas for what games can do in the future, or the pretty misleading interviews and press materials have built up a stern hatred for him getting carried away. On the games where both Molyneux and his team were on form though - i.e. the first two - Fable brought to life every Disney-based idea you'd always wanted realised. In a game world that was just so ruddy English that everything from localised accents to jokes only people in England would understand, it led to the much-maligned part three still having a diamond in the rough in the form of Monty Python legend John Cleese on board as your butler, continuing the humorous side of things even though the game itself was utter bobbins.
