12. School Days
Fans of anime are probably already familiar with the show School Days. Released as a show and later as a manga this charming little story features a number of high school students simply trying to overcome the troubles of adolescence and young love. Then they begin dying, badly, and for no apparent reason. The tension between characters leads to uncomfortable sexual encounters that lead further into very dark and depressing territories that leave all the characters with either ruined lives or dead. The game depicts all of these happenings from a third person point of view. In a way, School Days is like a video game made for people with lazy thumbs. The game only requires you to make choices every once in a while. The rest of the time it's like watching a regular anime. What do you get when you stuff a bunch of cut scenes, misleading pleasantries, horrific deaths, random choices, and hentai all into the same package? The best video game ever, of course.
