13. Twisted Metal (PS3)
Speaking of God of War's David Jaffe, his flagship franchise was always Twisted Metal, the car-combat game that's so unapologetically '90's you just have to love it. From the nightmarish character designs to the 'heavy-metal-comes-to-life' level aesthetic, everything about Twisted Metal (like God of War, Gears of War or something like Bulletstorm) made zero apologies for just being a great big mash-up of explosions, swearing and weaponry that eviscerates your opponents in the most satisfying way possible. For a while the whole 'car combat' genre was in vogue, and with a new Destruction Derby on the distant horizon there's every chance of a return, but this scratches the hell out of any nostalgic itch 90's gamers didn't realise they had.
