For some entries I include the evolved forms along with the base choice since the group overall are just as bad as the individuals, and this first entry is a perfect example. I am in no way a "GenWunner". I enjoy every single generation of Pokémon. In fact, I find it difficult to pick a generation of games to call my favorite. To be honest, despite the many entries you will see on this list from Black and White, Generation V is one of my favorites. For the first time since Pokémon Red and Blue/Green we are given a full Pokédex of 150 brand new Pokémon. It was refreshing while somewhat familiar as it paid homage to the original collection to draw inspiration and structure for the Unova Pokédex. However, there were some horrible Pokémon in this region that were a complete eyesore to look at. One of the worst offenders and the premiere entry on this list is Woobat and its just as goofy looking evolved form, Swoobat. Woobat and its evolution are to be this game's Zubat/Golbat equivalent. But where Zubat and friend are simple in appearance, mimicking its real life inspiration, Woobat looks like a Frankenstein monster of poorly drawn cartoons and various animal parts. Most Pokémon have a sort of concrete sense to its origins and existence but Woobat/Swoobat come off as a doodle drawn by a four-year-old. Nothing here yells "properly brainstormed" or "taken seriously". A puff of hair for a body, pig nose for a face, and a set of bat wings to complete it, this design only gets worse when it evolves. Certainly a Pokémon that should have went through a few more drafts.
