16 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2017
6. WWE 2K18
"And we're building a new engine!" said 2K, showing off some of the best character models wrestling games have ever seen. Only problem? The guts of the experience were exactly the same as the turgid 2K17, 2K16, 2K15 and so on.
Matches are incredibly slow, lumbering affairs as 2K have completely embraced the "simulation" aspect of wrestling, rather than the overblown, "embodying your favourite superstars and pulling off high-flying moves" mentality of the 2000s.
Counter prompts are still finicky to get down, with submissions even worse. Pins can see you losing due to a missed button press rather than anything reflecting the state of your wrestler overall, and in general, the quintessential "connection" between player and avatar was just as broken as it has been for the majority of the decade.
Simply because 2K have zero competition it's highly unlikely these games will ever get any better - but even with those reduced expectations, WWE 2K18 is another forgettable release dropping off the production line.
