Hidetaka Miyazaki's cosmic horror RPG masterpiece is utterly drenched in Lovecraftian inspiration from head to toe and you only need to lay eyes on the Moon Presence (above) to see that.

By consuming said umbilical cords - items that are found on the rotten corpses of bosses or in craftily hidden areas - you'll gain access to a new boss after dealing with the senile Gehrman.

Why you need to beat them: The Moon Presence is far easier than Bloodborne's aforementioned non-secret final boss. The former may look more nightmarish, but it's the latter that will give you actual night terrors.
