18 Best Moments From The Batman: Arkham Video Games

3. Welcome To The Madhouse

Remember way back in 2009 when you fired up Arkham Asylum hoping it would be the Batman game that finally gets it right, yet bracing yourself for the possibility that it might all come crashing down around your ears at any moment?

Looking back on it now, it seems laughable that there was ever any doubt in Rocksteady's ability to knock it out of the park, but given the character's downright depressing history in crappy adaptations, the idea that a good Batman game just wasn't in the cards was anything but absurd. But the second we fired up Arkham Asylum everything just clicked - we watched in awestruck silence as the entrance to Arkham Asylum opened up on the backlit figure of the Dark Knight as he hauled the Joker over the threshold.

There was nothing like it. And every moment, every single second - from Killer Croc's dramatic reveal, to Batman's chokehold on the Joker - was steeped in such a powerful love for the source material, that we knew the 'Batman curse' had finally been lifted.
