A phenomenal little indie game, The Banner Saga is a planned trilogy which has just in 2016 released its second instalment.

Twinning Game of Thrones' dour, "Anything can happen and anyone can die" tonality with the turn-based tactics of XCOM, you're forced to plan out every move accordingly, whilst also taking into account how best to treat your troupe of followers and how to handle yourself in any face-to-face encounters.

So far its story remains one of the most underrated in the medium, but it's Arnie Jorgensen's phenomenal art style that'll really hook you in for the duration.
