11. Elena Was Originally Latin American

Elena Fisher was originally conceived as a very different character than what she ended up being in the finished version of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. At Comic-Con 2011, Creative Director Amy Hennig revealed that Elena was originally conceived as a Latin American woman named Elena Vargas, and was to be played by Claudia Black.

While this never came to pass, Black would eventually be brought on to play the sultry Chloe Frazer in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Interestingly, the name Vargas was later given to the corrupt prison warden seen in the beginning of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, most likely as a callback, though the character has no relation or screen time with Elena in the game.
