After the disasterpiece that was Resident Evil 6, everyone's favourite undead-slaying series has been on something of an upswing. Resident Evil 7 was a flawed gem, RE2 Remake was a Game of the Year contender and RE3Make... exists.

As the man said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, and Resident Evil Village looks set to make it three out of four for team RE.

The eighth numbered entry in Capcom's storied franchise looks to be leaning hard into hammer-horror this time round. Zombies are out, werewolves are in and protagonist Ethan Winters will be exploring a sinister village filled with mysterious, cultish inhabitants.

It's essentially Resident Evil meets Innsmouth, with a splash of lycanthropy thrown in for effect. A brilliantly bizarre combination, and one only Capcom could pull off.
