Atlus may be best known for Persona these days, but it was the Shin Megami Tensei games that brought them to the dance.

Shin Megami Tensei may not have grabbed as many headlines as its sister franchise, but SMT IV and its spin-off game, Apocalypse, were among the most memorable RPGs released in the preceding console generation. (Especially Apocalypse, which contained the most deliciously blasphemous boss fight in video game history).

SMT V looks to take-up where its God-bothering predecessors left off, with the Supreme Being apparently being KIA and Lucifer taking the opportunity to treat Earth as his personal playground. You've got to admit, that's a hell of a set-up for a story! (dad-level pun not intended)

Atlus have been the most consistently great JRPG developers of the past 15 years, and Shin Megami Tensei V should further cement their status as the best in the world at what they do. (And what they do best... is very pretty).
