18 Most Iconic Signature Moves In Video Game History
8. Morph Ball - Samus Aran (Metroid)
It may look like it's been coded into a particularly thick stack of ham these days, but back in 1986, the idea of exploring some large-feeling space-age caverns was like stepping into another world entirely. Playing as the instantly-badass Samus Aran (who was yet to be outed as a female, too) was icing on the cake - until you got your hands on the awesome Morph Ball ability, and suddenly everything entered a whole new realm of awesome. This ability has since garnered quite the amount of detractors over the years, but you can put the vast majority of them down to Metroid: Other M's finicky physics-based control scheme - or the fact that there's literally no way for a human to get scrunched up so tight and still see where the hell they're going.
