8. Turok

The original dinosaur hunter got a total revamp back in 2008 following a few lacklustre instalments, as lets face it the idea of a hulking bow-wielding space-merc with a rather large knife was a character even lady-gamers would be happy to embody. Im yet to come across a single soul who doesnt love a game where you get to stalk varying amounts of Evil Dudes in a forest with a massive bow and arrow, and what made Turok doubly fun was the inclusion of a batch of dinosaurs who would liberally tear enemy platoons apart as you did your thing and either picked them off one-by-one, or waded in arrow-heads first. What made the game for me was coming across a rather large reptile about three-times the size of Turok, yet it was far enough away to ready a suitably accurate arrow shot...until it saw me and came charging. What played out was me letting fly an arrow at the last moment to tag the creature in the leg, its entire frame crashing to the ground in a weakened state at my feet, at which point the game prompted a command prompt to dive on the beast, knife in hand, and finish it off as only a Rambo-styled jungle-hardass would. Such a great game, and an experience many more need to share.
