14. Alpha Protocol
You may know RPG-famous developers Obsidian Entertainment for being at the helm of the new South Park: The Stick of Truth game, however back in 2010 the studio turned their stat-crunching non-linear design tropes into a game brimming with scope and potential, yet lacking in enough polish to make it easily recommendable. If you get past the extremely bad A.I and occasionally spotty animation, Alpha Protocol offers a fantastic Mass Effect-ian take on the modern spy game. Giving you the option to take on the characteristics of your Sam Fishers, your James Bonds, or your Solid Snakes, or a combination of all three, complete with branching conversation options, a multitude of globe-spanning locales and even secret hideouts and skill-trees, Protocol is still a brilliantly enjoyable title if you can forgive a lack of polish in light of a more original approach.
