12. The Bourne Conspiracy

We all know the rule that coincides with movie tie-ins or television inspired games; they are almost always universally bad, due to time restraints or licensing troubles. However with the first Bourne film having already been out for 6 years, when Conspiracy dropped, telling the story of what happened with Bourne prior to that film alongside including some memorable fights that were in Identity, it was a great way of leaning on what was already successful, yet injecting some originality into the proceedings. Gameplay itself was fairly standard for shooters of the time, following Resident Evil 4s over-the-shoulder revolution. However what made Conspiracy great fun was the melee combat that allowed you to take on a multitude of enemies at once, brandishing a variety of weapons as you did so. Whilst Matt Damon bowed out of the project due to creative differences, the trademark Bourne score was intact thanks to Paul Oakenfold, complimenting the incredibly hard-hitting thumps and thwacks that made up the rest of the in-combat soundscape.
