20 Awful Characters In Amazing Games
2. The Arkham Knight (Batman: Arkham Knight)
So, this entry comes with a pretty big spoiler alert for Batman: Arkham Knight. That said, everyone and their grandmother called this "plot twist" from the beginning of the advertising campaign. It feels odd to even call it a spoiler.
The marketing team claimed that The Arkham Knight was an entirely original creation for the third Arkham release. This raised alarm bells for fans, as why would Rocksteady make a new villain when Batman's legendary rogues' gallery is available? On top of this, you didn't have to be a Bruce Wayne-level detective to figure out that Jason Todd, the former Robin, was the one under the mask - which sucked all the air out of the reveal.
However, even without the meta-understanding, The Arkham Knight/Jason Todd still fell flat as a villain. His overly aggressive obsession with defeating The Batman was shallow and repetitive. Plus, he also often felt secondary to the far more interesting Scarecrow, which didn't help.
Batman: Arkham Knight is still an incredible ride into Gotham City. Sadly, this character was a speedbump in the road.
