20 Awful Characters In Amazing Games
3. Wyll (Baldur’s Gate 3)
This one hurts, as it's really hard to throw tomatoes at the phenomenal Baldur's Gate 3. Still, what must be done must be done, and the target is one hundred per cent Wyll.
The Blade of Frontiers, as he's known, is nowhere near as sharp as his name suggests. In fact, he's the worst companion character in the game. While his position as a Warlock should be a fine set-up for an interesting, morally complex character, he's ultimately incredibly boring and lacks any grit. His design is pretty cool, but his vanilla personality leaves a lot to be desired.
Sadly, this Baldurian has suffered since the beginning, as his character was overhauled due to early-access feedback (via GameRant). Fans didn't connect with his sly, often aggressive persona, lack of content, or impact on the story. So, Larian Studios softened his edges and made his storyline heavily plot-relevant. In doing so, they turned him into a classic fairy-tale hero with no personality.
If you could choose between a witty vampire, sassy cult-obsessed goth, aggressive frog-lady, cool demonic muscle mommy, or a bland Prince Charming - which one would you pick? You already know which one you wouldn't.
