11. Quiet Takes On The HOB Soldiers - MGSV PP
With a change of voice actor for Snake and more grave events, Metal Gear Solid V has a much darker tone than the rest of the games in the franchise. While many scenes are tough to watch, none are more morbid than the scene in which Quiet is about to be raped after being caught by the FOB soldiers.
Being held underwater under her lips turned blue, Quiet is able to retaliate to her treatment, and does so with a vicious vengeance, before being taken back to Mother Base by Venom Snake.
In a later cutscene, Quiet has broken free from her cell and attacks FOB soldiers as payback. She brutally sticks her knife into the mouth of a whimpering soldier, breaking his teeth.
Snake ends the fight and detains Quiet. Snake and Ocelot justify the attack as payback for Quiet’s treatment before, and Kiefer Sutherland masterfully conveys Snake’s torn motivations: he is loyal to his unit, but what they had planned to do to Quiet was barbaric and in need of justice.
This scene does much to darken the circumstances and motivations of the supposed good guys and illustrates that in war, morality is hidden.
