4. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Is Emotional & Complex
One of the best-constructed trailers at E3 unsurprisingly came from Hideo Kojima for his upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Making brilliant use of Mike Oldfield's excellent song Nuclear, the trailer paints a bleak image of events following Ground Zeroes, though it's unclear when this takes place exactly, considering that Big Boss is supposed to be in a coma for 9-years following his injuries sustained in GZ. The most iconic moment from the trailer has Big Boss smothering the ashes of his fallen Diamond Dogs comrades on his face, but other notable images include BB getting into a knife fight, facing off against a child (who many suspect might be a young Raiden), Quiet kicking plenty of a**, a glimpse at a child soldier (who IGN suggested might be a young Drebin), and most strangely of all, a clip of Big Boss and Skull Face entering a hangar containing a Metal Gear-like machine. Needless to say, the game looks amazing, though sadly there was no sign of a release date, so we're probably at least a year off from this game landing in our laps.
