Said by some to be 2017's Stardew Valley, the reality of Golf Story harkens back to 1984's NES classic, Golf, or pretty much any arcade golf game you played as a kid.

The twist, is that you're not playing courses selected from a menu. Instead, Golf Story is an RPG where sinking holes in one, chipping and going all out with power shots increases various stats. You can tee-up anywhere to hit various parts of the environment, take on side missions and develop playful rivalries with other golfers, who'll then see you out on the green, all as the "formerly hopeful individual gives it one more go!" story unfolds.

There are full courses too, weather hazards, plenty of shot-types and clubs - even a frisbee-flinging side-mode, because why not. Golf Story's addictive tendencies come from wrapping all these mechanics together in a blanket of pure charm, ensuring that even if you don't think golf is for you, this begs to differ.
