Bluepoint Games' remake of one of the PS2's most acclaimed titles isn't some fast-and-dirty glorified remaster cranked out for some easy cash: the game's assets were rebuilt entirely from the ground-up, ensuring Shadow of the Colossus 2018 is the definitive way to play the artful masterpiece.

Given that the original version of the game stretched the PS2's tech to its breaking point, per its wonky frame rate and frustrating camera, the remake is an immediately less troublesome experience.

And while it won't do many favours to those who found the original's controls too slippery for their own good, as a triumph of low-key storytelling wrapped around the greatest boss-rush game of all time, it remains a stone cold, undisputed masterpiece.
