While a lot of players found Gascoigne to be a great adversary earlier in the game, Gehrman takes all the mechanics that created him and beefs them up to an utterly brutal level.

Oh, and they also saw fit to equip him with a scythe that will render most of your tried and tested defences absolutely redundant. While the rest of the game encourages you to get on the front foot and take the fight to your opponents, your only prayer against Gehrman is a serious proficiency with the parry command and the Beckoning Bell.
