20 Best Video Game Reveals From E3 2018
11. Sea Of Solitude
Although EA have taken a right kicking over the past year thanks to their questionable business practices seeping into major blockbuster releases, the company's one big saving grace has always been their EA Originals label. A sub-division that focuses on funding experimental titles like A Way Out and Unravel (usually at a loss, as the developers themselves receive the bulk of the revenue), their appearance at EA Play was an immediate highlight.
While Unravel 2's announcement and instant release was a scene-stealer, it was actually Sea of Solitude which was the most interesting. Without too much being revealed, a trailer showed a game all about loneliness and isolation, brought to life across a vibrant, flooded town, an aesthetic which made the title immediately stand out from the rest of EA's showcase.
However it was perhaps the way the developers themselves talked about the game, with so much palpable passion and genuine excitement to be able to showcase it on such a huge stage, that was so endearing. With so many businessmen and so much scripted humour it's easy to lose sight of the passion that all of these games are made on, something which which is present in every part of Sea of Solitude.
