10. Doom: Eternal

Despite getting off to a slow start, the 2016 reboot of Doom has since come to be viewed as one of the best first-person shooters of the generation. Consequently, fans have been eager to find out when they can next jump into the rip-and-tearing shoes of the Doomslayer, with many hypothesising that it would be a little while yet, especially considering Id Software are also working on Rage 2.

Fortunately, juggling multiple projects didn't stop them from announcing a sequel to their biggest franchise, Doom: Eternal, at E3. Though it was merely a CG trailer, it did more than enough to kick the hype machine into gear, especially with the devs announcing that twice the amount of demons, more brutality than ever and hell on Earth would be featured in the project.

It's a shame that there was no gameplay - which could have easily allowed the reveal to jump up a few places on this list - but at least that's been promised for Quake Con later in the year.
