20 Best Video Games Of The Decade
7. Red Dead Redemption 2
Head and shoulders above even the most visually stunning first-party console titles, Rockstar's bar-raising Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sight to behold.
Including a jaw-dropping amount of detail comprising everything from crunching snow to the individual hairs on a horse's mane, the studio have essentially created virtual reality without the goggles.
Because it's the considered, methodical pace of RDR2 that really makes it truly phenomenal. The way animations have to play out; the way bodies realistically slump to the floor, how you can only carry as many weapons as a human realistically could, or how a group of people lance, dance and sing around a campfire.
Rockstar spin a tale of how the outlaw life became unsustainable, tapping into the formation of judicial systems and modern American values as we know them today. It's a totemic release that few studios could afford to put together, nor may they have the combined talent.
Red Dead Redemption 2 should be championed from top to bottom, and who knows where they go from here.
