Talk about your influential games. Call of Duty's fourth numbered instalment changed the multiplayer gaming landscape in such drastic fashion, we're still feeling the effects of it to this day.

Perk-based multiplayer systems, set piece-filled campaigns, quick-time event minigames and a huge focus on blowing everything up with "Hoo-ra!" dialogue and military-grade weapon-rendering, yup, I'd wager regardless of your opinion on the franchise overall, you've at least played a good chunk of it over the years.

It's honestly testament to just how much Infinity Ward got right, that the basic 'feel' of COD has gone mostly unchanged since this genre-shaking instalment, and that's before you get to all the millions of copycat shooters that try in vein to be its worthwhile contemporaries.

Say what you like about the artistic direction Call of Duty has gone in, it's undoubtedly one of the most prolific and mechanically-sound shooters of all time.
