Where its first instalment was more a proof of concept than anything (Naughty Dog had never done a third-person shooter, after all), Uncharted 2 felt like every one one of those initial ideas were capitalised on in full.

Remaining one of the most cinematic and enjoyably 'popcorny' video games around, Drake's second outing backed up the bluster with brains, creating spectacular levels like its train sequence which saw Naughty Dog's coders render an entire valley for the thundering locomotive to power through, alongside all the physics that came with it.

We knew Nate was destined for great things after that original adventure, but from the cliffhanger opening to all the Hollywood-beating set-piece wizardry that would make up this immaculate sequel, it's Among Thieves that cemented the quip-happy adventurer in all our hearts.
