20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
7. The Order: 1886 (Fall)
Without question Sony's most-prized exclusive PS4 title now that Infamous: Second Son is out in the wilderness, The Order: 1886 is an action adventure set in late-19th century London, as an order of dedicated knights try to keep the world safe from gangs of humanoid monsters. Beyond that, little was known about the game until three minutes of gameplay surfaced in February, though journalists had in fact been shown a longer 10-minute reel. IGN posted a preview of the footage they saw, complaining about numerous technical issues which hopefully will be ironed out in time for release. Though they praised the graphics, art direction and transitions between cut-scenes and gameplay, they also remarked that what was shown to them resembled little more than a pretty but ultimately garden variety shooter. Of course, if you're going to show the gaming press some of your new project, you wouldn't show them merely OK gameplay: you'd show them something awesome, right? Will It Deliver? Of all the games on this list, this is probably the biggest game casting the most doubt right now. Expect the technical problems to be all cleared up by release, but if it's a pretty simple Gears of War-inspired cover shooter, it may merely be another good-but-not-great title worth only a rental.
