20 Boss Fights That Actually Get Easier
5. Kuroki "The Artist" - Sifu (2022)
Developed by French studio Sloclap, Sifu is a roguelike martial arts game that's as stylish as it's deviously difficult. After witnessing their father's brutal murder, the plot follows the nameless protagonist as they seek vengeance on his killers. However, each time the hero dies, their age advances by as many years as the player's total deaths.
While Sifu's aging mechanic adds an intriguing twist to the gameplay formula, the main source of its difficulty stems from the frantic combat, which players must quickly master to succeed. No part of this game pushes players' skills to their limits more than its boss fights.
One of the deadliest bosses is Kuroki "The Artist." Alongside her ferocious speed and aggression, what makes this fight especially taxing is her erratic attack patterns. Armed with a bladed staff, she unleashes long and unpredictable combos that are incredibly tricky to evade. Make it beyond this phase, and she'll swap that dreaded staff for kunai.
While Kuroki is even faster in her second phase, dodging and parrying her attacks is exponentially more manageable than before. Additionally, having the ability to catch and throw her knives further trivialises this phase, enabling players to achieve a well-earned victory.
