While its combination of stealth and lightning-fast combat makes Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice radically different from FromSoftware's other Soulsborne titles, it's still just as unforgivingly difficult.

Unlike the careful approach to combat required in Dark Souls, Sekiro's combat revolves around deflecting and countering incoming attacks, turning each encounter into a rhythmic dance. As daunting as facing regular foes can be, it's the boss fights where players' abilities are truly tested. No boss does this better than Isshin, The Sword Saint.

This game's real final boss, the Ashina elder is an unrelenting powerhouse of speed and aggression. The battle only grows more intense during the second phase when Isshin acquires a giant spear and a pistol, allowing him to perform even more devastating combos. However, if players can weather this part of the fight, victory is all but assured.

While Isshin is still a formidable force during the final phase, he now unleashes a lightning attack that players can take advantage of. By getting the timing right, players can execute a lightning counter that deals heavy damage to the sword master, drastically turning the tables in the player's favour.

It's a fantastically satisfying end to an otherwise brutal fight.
