20 Clever Video Game Easter Eggs You Didn't Understand
12. BS Code Puzzles - Life Is Strange
The story-based game Life is Strange is often praised for its writing, but the narrative is not the only thing that can surprise you with its depth. The game also has a lot of clever easter eggs, and the sneakiest of them all can completely go past your head if you’re not committed and smart enough to find it.
During Max’s nightmare sequence in the diner bathroom, you have to solve one of the game’s many digicode puzzles, finding the correct password among the hundreds of codes scrawled on the walls.
At this point most players experience digicode fatigue (even Max herself comments that she hopes this is the last digicode puzzle), but if you don’t want to do the puzzle, you can actually solve it by failing it.
If you keep entering incorrect codes, Max will start giving you hints about the mirror that reflects the correct code.
Instead of following her clues, you can keep using wrong codes, and when you enter your fiftieth incorrect password, Max finally breaks the fourth wall in anger, promising to make the designers pay for their “bullshit code puzzles,” causing the door to magically open by itself.
You've got to love an easter egg that rewards you for thinking outside the box.
