20 Comic Book Video Games You Must Play Before You Die

6. Captain America: Super Soldier

For as much as he's a recognisable household name and face these days thanks to both the MCU and Chris Evans getting out there and promoting himself, Cap's video game output has been less than consistent. However, although this first solo movie tie-in is very by-the-numbers when it comes to combat and level progression, it's just a hell of a lot of fun to roundhouse kick Nazis in the face, ping your shield off a handful of distant attackers, and charge up the occasional jaw-breaking haymaker for a big finish. Animation is completely solid, character models look brilliant and the story itself is a fine enough "Here's Cap on a mission"-type fare. The real fun is just being the perfect soldier. There aren't any firearms as Cap's style is more in your face, but you've got access to a solid arsenal of shield-based bashes and charges, dodges, counters and ground-pounds to get the job done.
Costumes can be unlocked and there are even a handful of light platforming sections to break up the face-smashing parts. Honestly though, when you've let your shield fly, socked three guys in a row only for Cap to auto-catch it and slot it onto his back - it's pure Cap-centric fanboy bliss.
