20 Coolest Trailers For Bad Video Games
4. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
After years of mediocre 3D games, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 looked like it could finally reinstate the infamous blue blur to his former glory. SEGA's trailers showed off a far more realistic-looking Sonic adventure, complete with huge environments to explore and a mysterious new character, Silver. Coverage of the trailers was particularly kind to the visuals, with GameSpot even stating it was the best looking Sonic game they'd seen up to that point.
Released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in November 2006, Sonic the Hedgehog was unable to differentiate itself from the other 3D Sonic games that had tried and failed to transition the protagonist from 2D to 3D. In fact, it was a bit of a mess. Broken controls, a camera that seemed to work against you rather than with you, huge loading times and dull missions were just some of the game's glaring list of problems.
While it didn't lack in ambition, it ultimately buckled under the weight of expectation. The game is not fondly remembered by fans and is often cited as one of Sonic's worst games of the last couple of decades.
