When developers Larian Studios began a Kickstarter campaign in March 2013 with the aim to secure extra funds for their next iteration in the Divinity series, the target was set at $400,000. Once all crowdfunding income had ceased, the total raised came to a very impressive one million dollars. On its release, Divinity: Original Sin was a critical and commercial success, with many reviewers claiming it to be a welcome return to the 'hardcore' games of yesteryear, and possibly one the best RPGs of all time. The game went on to become Larian Studios fastest selling title, shifting 500,000 copies by September 2014, while one site claimed it to be the Best Kickstarter of 2014.
