3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Arguably the most popular of the X-Men, Wolverine has enjoyed the limelight for more than 20 years thanks to the movies and animated shows. One movie in particular that didn’t help his image, however, was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The low point of the series saw Hugh Jackman’s James Howlett eventually become the titular character we all know and love today, fight off against an array of villains, including the first on-screen version of Deadpool that has his mouth sewn shut and… retractable katana’s in his arms.

The movie was not loved, but in a rare turn of events, the video game version of the movie is actually fondly remembered, and some would argue, better than the movie. Developed by Raven Software (hello again), the video game version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine loosely follows the plot of the movie but also includes its own tangents and story moments, such as fighting big rock monsters and a Sentinel boss fight.

This game never saw a remaster, however and due to rights issues, has never been re-released and is unavailable on digital stores. Meaning the only way to play this diamond in the rough is by dusting off your PS3 or Xbox 360 (I mean, PS2, Wii and PSP as well, but those versions are different and not as good) and finding a physical copy. With the excitement building for the upcoming Insomniac Wolverine game, a re-release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine would quench that thirst, even if just for a moment.

Hey, I’m Matt. I work full-time at WhatCulture's neighbours, MyVoucherCodes. I first joined MyVoucherCodes as a Deals Expert, scouring the internet, leaving no stone unturned in finding the best discount codes, sales and offers for our customers. Moving into my first home during the worst possible time (during lockdown), I understand the necessity of saving money when the purse strings are tight. Outside of saving money, I’m into video games, movies, books and music. I host and edit a video game podcast called The Retry Hard Podcast, where my friend and I go through news, reviews and video games in general. I love movies and watching how they’re made, and I’ve worked as a set decorator for a few months on His Dark Materials season 3, which gave me a massive insight into how it all comes together. I also put out music as a solo artist named Matt Kiano, where I won the award for Best Male Artist of 2025 for Radio Wigwam and have been nomiated for Best Live Act at the 2026 Radio Wigwam Awards.
