5. Helping Playboy X - Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto IV tells a gritty story of Niko Bellic’s rise to the top of Liberty City’s criminal underbelly.
Niko's employers are rarely reputable people, but there is one situation when the game will actively punish you for naively trusting the wrong side of the conflict.
During the mission where you have to settle a dispute between the rising drug dealer, Playboy X, and his old mentor, Dwayne, who was recently released from prison, Playboy will ask you to assassinate Dwayne out of fear of losing his empire.
If you followed the story, you’ll realize that Playboy is an especially greedy and selfish person, and the only reason why he’s as successful as he is is because he betrayed Dwayne and took over his drug business after cutting all contact with him.
If you still trust Playboy after learning this, your reward for killing Dwayne is a measly $25,000, and Playboy immediately removes you from his contacts list.
On the other hand, if you help Dwayne instead, you get permanent access to Playboy’s mansion that you cannot obtain otherwise, and Dwayne becomes your friend for the rest of the game.
