9. No Passport (James Bond 007: The Stealth Affair)
There have been roughly as many James Bond video games as there have been movies, with two of the most celebrated being 1997’s generation-defining Goldeneye 007 and 2026’s 007 First Light. One entry that doesn’t often come to mind is 1990’s 007 James Bond: The Stealth Affair.
Known as Operation Stealth in Europe – where it stars John Glames instead of James Bond – the point-and-click adventure sends the sly spy to Latin America locale Santa Paragua to find a stolen aircraft called Stealth.
Understandably, the first scene has Bond making his way through customs at the Santa Paragua airport. Bond is supposed to use a device hidden in his briefcase to forge a non-American passport; however, if he presents the American passport he sees at the top of his briefcase, the customs agent will inform Bond that he’s about to be taken hostage for “1000 cruseros!!”
Indeed, Bond is taken away by two armed criminals as the screen reads:
“Alas you have just failed miserably, before you have even begun! As the prison door slams shut behind you, . . . you can’t help but remember the ritual little phrase . . . repeated each time you left on a new mission: 'In case of failure, our government will deny any knowledge of you.'"
You should've known better, 007.
