20 Greatest Ever Pokemon Designs

1. Vulpix

Vulpix

My favourite Pokémon design of all, though, just has to be Vulpix. Vulpix! The little fox-Pokémon that stole my heart and has remained my favourite of favourites for all the years that I've played the games. From the moment I saw it I found it irresistible, and I have little doubt that that€™s ever going to change. Vulpix is a fox, the best known and the best fox-Pokémon designed. It takes several bits of inspiration from a fox, such as colour scheme and general shape. It is designed in the generally red colours of a fox, and also resembles it in body shape. Everything about it clearly calls back to its original inspiration, and does so in the best of ways. Vulpix is even more awesome than this, however, because it is also a fire breathing fox. My favourite fire type by far, it also manages to carry across what it is perfectly in its design. The red colour scheme is that of a fox, yes, but it also lends itself to a fire type. It also looks like a very exciting fire type. I'm not sure about you, but the thought of a little fox suddenly starting to breathe fire is something that is always going to excite me. And it is because of this combination that Vulpix is such a success to me. It takes strong influence from a fox, but also does something new. It keeps the body shape, and adds fire breathing capabilities and a giant tail. The giant tale, a link to the kitsune of Japanese myth, gives it a slightly mystical air - one very appealing to me even now. Vulpix is not a legendary, but it looks like it could be one due to its canny mix of various things. It is fox, fire breather and mythical being all rolled into one. It is because of all of these things that Vulpix is my favourite design by far. It has hints to one of my favourite animals, but also does something completely new with it. It is a fox, but something even more developed than a fox - a development that leads to it being an incredibly cute and fascinating Pokémon. And that is why it's my favourite - the old mixed with the new, the adorableness of a fire breathing fox that is always going to prove a winning combination.
