The Civilization series has done a phenomenal job of introducing the typically complex 4X strategy genre to a wide audience. Famous for giving players a 'one more turn' mentality, Sid Meier has a lot of sleepless nights to answer for. This entry might be contentious for long-time Civ fans, with many arguing that the third and fourth games offered the ultimate Civilization experience. However, ever since the release of the Brave New World expansion, Civilization V has managed to come into its own. Brave New World addressed player's problems with the lack of options for non-violent victories, ensuring that Civilization V wasn't just a war game. The underhanded diplomacy and additional options for trading were even better when playing with a group of other players, giving Civilization V what it needed to be remembered as one of the best LAN titles ever.
