20 Most Hotly Anticipated Games Still To Come In 2014
9. Evolve (Oct 21)
One of the most exciting new IPs due for release this year is Evolve, the latest project from Left 4 Dead developers Turtle Rock Studios. Though the game does feature a single player campaign, 99% of the attention has been focused on the 5-player multiplayer mode, which has four players taking control of human hunter characters (each of different classes), while the fifth player controls an alien monster whose task is to eliminate the hunters. From what we've seen so far, the game appears to be extremely well-balanced, with the monster being considerably stronger than the hunters, though when he goes through evolutionary stages, he is briefly left in a vulnerable cocoon state, where the humans can launch an attack. Those lucky enough to play the game have consistently praised the tension inherent on both sides of the war, and how delicately balanced the abilities of the hunters and monster are. If they pull it off, Turtle Rock will have one of the year's big multiplayer hits on their hands: hopefully it'll be fun enough to keep us playing long after Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hits stores. Predicted MetaCritic Score: 86
