It's easy to forget, now that Elden Ring has indeliby etched itself into the gaming conciousness, but there was a time when almost nothing was known about FromSoftware's magnum opus. Save its name and that George R.R. Martin was involved somehow, Elden Ring remained shrouded in mystery until its open beta allowed gamers their first tentative steps into the Lands Between.
It's a trick FromSoftware have repeated with the upcoming DLC. Save its name and an apparent February release date (and even that's only known due to a leak), little is known about Shadow of the Erdtree.
Despite this, it's a safe bet Elden Ring's first DLC will be a can't-miss event. FromSoftware excel at DLC - Bloodborne's The Old Hunters is a frontrunner for the greatest expansion pack ever made - and after two years of development Shadow of the Erdtree will almost certainly follow in the footsteps of its legendary forebearers.
