Directive 8020 is the latest entry into Supermassive Games' Dark Pictures Anthology franchise, and though the series' first four games released annually, this will mark its first mainline entry since 2022's The Devil in Me.

This new installment is a sci-fi horror romp in which a colony ship crash-lands on a planet where the surviving crew find themselves facing a shapeshifting alien threat.

Lashana Lynch will star as astronaut and pilot Brianna Young, though like previous Dark Pictures games players will switch between five different characters throughout the cinematic story.

While Directive 8020 mostly follows the formula of previous entries in the series, it also introduces real-time combat and stealth, as well as an inventory system. 

But perhaps the most interesting new feature is the Turning Point system, allowing players to rewind gameplay to experiment with alternate paths, and it will also be the first game in the series to include online co-op.
