20 Most Terrifying Enemies In Video Game History
13. The Shibito - Siren: Blood Curse
If you're looking for the easiest way to classify Shibito, I suppose 'zombie' would be the quickest (albeit broadest) term to apply as it's so much easier to toss around than "raving, psychotic demons from the lowest circles of Hell". Owing their reanimation to "Red Water", the villagers of Hanuda stalk the roads and buildings in search of prey, all the while muttering incoherently under their breath.
The Shibito are highly violent and it's advisable to avoid any and all contact with them as they will easily overpower you with numbers and strength. That's where 'Sight-Jacking' comes in, a nifty ability that allows you to 'borrow' their eyes for a spell as you coordinate your movements around them. It's a life-saver for sure, but it also grants you the breathing space needed to stop and observe - really observe - Shibito behavior. And that, for me at least, is what's really freaky about these things.
It's one thing to be terrified of these guys when they're trying to bash your head in with everything that isn't nailed down, it's quite another to realize their 'normal' behavior is just as disturbing. Study the Shibito long enough and you'll catch them gardening, praying, watching television, having dinner... you know, the same things they probably did before their deaths.
It's pretty damn creepy, and it starts to raise questions: do the Shibito retain some memory of who they were? Are they aware of their actions?
Regardless of the reason, it's genuinely disturbing to watch these creatures wear their former life like an ill-fitting costume.
