20 Most Terrifying Enemies In Video Game History
14. Crimson Heads - Resident Evil (2002)
"Shoot 'em in the head" - it's the golden rule for surviving a zombie apocalypse, so isn't it funny how often it isn't an integral factor in whether or not you become zombie chow? Hell, most games are pretty liberal when it comes to zombie weaknesses - as long you're firing in the general direction of the creatures, you're five by five.
But the Resident Evil Remake takes a different tack by insisting you destroy a zombie's brain or, at the very least - incinerate what's left of the rotter's corpse. Failure to do either will result in the zombie's revival (we really need a new word to describe double revivals, don't we?) and trust me when I say that you really don't want that to happen. Because what comes back isn't your everyday garden variety flesh-eater.
These bad boys are tougher, faster and all-around nastier, but what really gives them an edge is their unpredictability. Since headshots are randomized in the RE remake, you have little to no control over what preventive measures to take to avoid crimson heads beyond simply lighting a match every time you gun down a zombie.
It's a delicate balancing act - do you waste fuel on a corpse blocking a corridor you may never return to? Or do you find an alternate path? What if that route is also littered with decaying bodies? Do you chance it?
It doesn't take long to start second-guessing your every move while mapping out a new path.
